Nesna – Live and learn by the coast
Nesna municipality is located in a part of Norway called “Helgelandskysten”. It is strategically situated between the cities of Mo i Rana, Sandnessjøen and Mosjøen. The municipality consists of a town centre on the mainland and three islands, which with their geographical peculiarities represent unique features of the coastline.

The natural environment and location makes Nesna a perfect starting point to explore Helgeland. Either you choose to do so by car, foot, bike, skis, boat or kayak you will experience beautiful scenery around you, genuine coastal societies and free open air.

1800 inhabitants live and prosper in Nesna, actively taking part in and contributing to the rich cultural life of the town. There are up to 60 different organizations dedicated to various activities. Theatre, music, sports, boating and crafts are all available to you either as a spectator or as a participant.

Nesna is home to Nesna University College (HiNe), with approximately 1000 students and 120 employees adding a unique competence and life to a small coastal society. Along with HiNe, Nesna is also home to an upper secondary school, a new primary and lower secondary school, and three pre-schools. It is actually possible in Nesna to start at  Nesna “barnehage” (pre-school) at the age of 1 and end up taking a PhD at HiNe 30 years later.

Nesna has recently grown to be a part of the global community, with people from many nationalities and with many languages. Due to immigration and a common work market in Europe, people move to Nesna to live, learn and work.

Everyone is welcome and so are you!
